Boys in Red

The term, “boy”, contains a sense of energy, passion, and possibility.
A boy has the ability to dream about the future when a man has to survive through reality.

Lying in the grass field is inspired by my childhood memory when we used to skip classes to nature and talk about our dreams, futures, and lives. with the sunshine lays on the faces, I remember how soft and gentle the grasses are, and there are sparkles of flowers blooming in between. Sleeping is a man’s most fragile moment. They disarm their outer persona and dream about getting away, resting in their safe utopia. Through the dreamy colors, symbols, and gestures, boys in red open a conversation about escapism, the desires, pressures, and loneliness of a man.

Boys in red is a series of paintings that explores the tenderness, intimacy, and softness of males. By placing different men in an imaginary space with postures of lying, resting, and sleeping, I intend to create an atmosphere and space to allow the men to show their insecurity, struggles, and brokenness.
